The 1 Sycamore Lane property is mostly wetlands, steep slopes and rock outcrops – the three environmentally sensitive features protected in White Plains code because of their importance both to the environment as well as the aesthetics of the community.

All who are opposed to development encroaching upon wetlands in White Plains are called to attend this common council meeting!

 

 

If you care about development over environmentally sensitive wetlands, flooding, traffic safety, scale of this proposed development, zoning compliance, excessive variances….. there is an opportunity for public comments at this hearing!

31. Resolution of the White Plains Common Council declaring its intent to serve as Lead Agency for the Environmental Review for site plan application regarding the proposed development for a Buddhist Temple at One Sycamore Lane on behalf of Dro Gah Sang Foundation Corp.

32. Communication from the Commissioner of Planning recommending the retention of a consultant to assist with the review of the site plan application submitted in relation to One Sycamore Lane.

33. Ordinance of the Common Council of the City of White Plains authorizing the execution of an agreement with a technical consultant in connection with the review of an application for site plan approval submitted by Dro Gah Sang Foundation Corp. concerning redevelopment of property located at One Sycamore Lane, White Plains, New York, and further authorizing the establishment of an escrow account and the execution of an associated escrow agreement for the payment of technical assistance to the Common Council and the departments and agencies of the City.

 

 


Galleria Mall Hearing

The February 3, 2025 Public Hearing Date regarding the Galleria Mall site. The public hearing is about (1) the developer’s draft statement of environmental impacts, and (2) the developer’s request to re-zone the land for much more height and density to facilitate its plans.

The hearing is a great opportunity to demand more transparency into the City’s plans to transfer the publicly-owned parking garages and underlying publicly-owned land to the developer!

The February 3, 2025 Public Hearing is set to begin at 7:30pm (we suggest arriving at 6:45pm since the night’s proceedings begin at 7:00pm) at White Plains’ City Hall, 255 Main St.
