Dear Rosedale Neighbors,
As we enter the holiday season, it’s important to remain vigilant and take steps to protect our homes and belongings.
Unfortunately, our neighborhood has seen recent activity by individuals engaging in vehicular larceny, particularly targeting unlocked vehicles during the early morning hours.
Additionally, the city of White Plains has been experiencing incidents of motor vehicle thefts targeting Hondas parked in municipal parking lots during their morning commute.
To help deter criminal activity and ensure our community stays safe, we recommend the following precautions:
- Lock Your Vehicles – Always lock your car doors during the day and overnight and ensure valuables are not visible from the outside.
- Arm Your Home Alarms – Activate your home security systems not only overnight but whenever you leave the house, even for short periods.
- Install and Use Motion-Sensing Lights – Bright, motion-activated lighting can discourage unwanted visitors.
- Utilize Security Cameras – Video surveillance systems such as Ring, SimpliSafe and ADT are a strong deterrent and can assist in identifying suspicious activity.
- Monitor Deliveries – Plan to retrieve packages promptly or consider having them delivered to secure locations.
- Honda Owners – Sign up for HondaLink Tracking Services and place an Apple AirTag in the vehicle.
If you notice any suspicious behavior, do not hesitate to call 911 in an emergency or contact the White Plains Department of Public Safety at their non-emergency number: (914) 422-6111.
Let’s all work together to keep Rosedale a safe and welcoming neighborhood. Thank you for your attention, and best wishes for a safe and joyful holiday season!
Warm regards,
Rosedale Residential Association
