Greetings RRA Neighbors,

Below are a few updates and take-aways from our first Board Meeting which was held on 1/27/21.

  1. Our new RRA website is up and running and will be updated regularly with neighborhood and city-wide information:
  • Membership dues can still be mailed in or paid for on PayPal, but we are having an issue with our Venmo account.
  • If you paid last year via Venmo, please email us at wprra@yahoo.com.  Knowing who paid via Venmo will help us with the issue that we are having.
  1. RRA Questionnaire and Charitable Donation:
  • 17 total RRA responses to the questionnaire
  • Majority of those residents voted 25% of dues from the 2020 should be donated to Feeding Westchester.
  • The RRA wrote a $700 check to Feeding Westchester.
  1. Amendments to the RRA By-Laws and Seeking New Board Members:
  • We increased the amount of board members to 15 from 14.
  • We currently have two board member openings for anyone who is interested.  We may have more openings soon.  If you are interested in being a part of our active, motivated, and diverse board, please email us at wprra@yahoo.com.
  • We implemented term limits for all Executive and General Board Members.
  1. Update on Leffell School and West St. Traffic Concerns:

Leffell School Update:

  • Summer camp issue has been sided due to pandemic
  • Trailer classrooms have been placed
  • Zoning board extends the trailer permits possibly until Sept 2022 because of the pandemic.
  • Car drop-off and pickup is smoother, nothing like the beginning of the year
  • Three- 20 mph speed limit signs have been installed at Dellwood, Hubbard and Morgan PL.

West Street Traffic:

  • Tom Soyke, WP has cleared the brush on the side of the road, and looking to extend and widen the street, not a closed case
  • Possible change to a one-way road.
  • Mr. Soyke will be invited to speak at the Annual RRA Meeting in May
  1. Comprehensive Plan Coordination with WPCNA:
  • The RRA, Gedney, and North St. Associations are working together with the WPCNA to help create and push for an update to the city’s outdated comprehensive plan.
  • We feel that addressing the plan systematically and in coordination with all the neighborhood associations will help us to better address the issues that the RRA is currently facing and will be facing in the future.
  • wprra@yahoo.comIf you are interested in being a part of our city-wide working group please email Mike Sanchez at
  1. Septemberfest:
  • We intend to hold Septemberfest this year.  This will obviously depend on the Health Department guidelines in the Spring and the project state of the pandemic for the fall.
  • We will potentially be looking for volunteers to be on the Septemberfest committee after the annual May meeting
  1. Potential Guest Speaker for Annual May Meeting:
  • Windward School for an update on their property and new campus
  • Tom Soyke and Chris Gomez (city planners) (discussion of traffic patterns/safety in Rosedale, state of land development in Rosedale/south end of WP, updating the WP Comprehensive Plan)
