Greetings RRA Residents,
Below is important information from the Department of Public Works Commissioner Stefania Mignone regarding Spotted Lanternflies. Spotted Lanternflies are invasive insects that threaten the health of the many trees that inhabit our neighborhood. Please read the below information and take action against these insects in order to protect our trees.
On behalf of Commissioner Stefania Mignone:
The City of White Plains has been working with Westchester County and Cornell Cooperative Extension to get the word out on how to identify and eliminate a highly invasive insect called the Spotted Lanternfly, which is being seen more frequently throughout White Plains, and surrounding areas. These colorful insects don’t bite or sting – but they will kill a lot of trees, shrubs and plants wherever they proliferate.
Attached, is a link to the Cornell Cooperative Extension website, where you will find information about the Spotted Lanternfly and various ways you can help prevent them from getting stronger in numbers:

The spread of this destructive pest is made much worse by people unknowingly transporting eggs to other areas, since eggs can attach to cars, firewood, sporting equipment, etc.
The article will tell you how to help combat the spread by removing the nymphs from trees, etc. and destroying them.
Please read this and act now; it’s important to everyone.
