Greetings RRA Neighbors,

You should be aware that Ladder 34 stationed at the Ridgeway Firehouse continues to be out of service.
Unfortunately, Ladder 34 at Ridgeway firehouse service levels continue to suffer with October in-service 6.5 day or 21% and YTD in-service only 28.7%, leaving the city with only two Ladders to cover the entire city.

The WPFD headcount is down -20 persons versus 2009 staffing levels while calls are up +30% versus 2000.   When there are sick or vacations days anywhere in the FD system, Ladder 34 is put out of service as the current headcount of WPFD does not support a fully operational system.  The south end communities continue to speak to the Mayor and Common Council about returning Ladder 34 to full-time status and maintaining proper staffing across all our public safety organizations. Schools are well underway at this point and there is no appropriate answers as to why the south end and WP as a whole does not having 24 hour ladder truck coverage.

In the meantime, the RRA is going to request a meeting with the Mayor’s Office and the Safety Commissioners concerning this issue.  The meeting will likely be in person.  If you are an RRA member and would like to be a part of this meeting, please let us know asap at wprra@yahoo.com.  Regardless if you attend the meeting, it is important that you voice your concern to the Mayor, Common Council and Commissioners and as always, please share your concerns with us so we can properly represent our residents.   See email and telephone numbers for White Plains officials at the end on this email.
