The City of White Plains will be rehabilitating sewer mains in various City neighborhoods through August, 2026.

Work is anticipated to commence on or about Monday, May 11, 2026 in the Rosedale area.

The City will be installing Cured-in- Place- Pipelining which is a new, joint-less sewer pipe that will minimize root and water infiltration problems, improve flow and provide for a more structural sound pipe without the need for excavation.

Service Disruptions: There will be a temporary disruption of sewer service to the affected residences or businesses for a period of approximately 6 hours. The Department of Public Works and the contractor National Water Main Cleaning will provide affected residents/business owners with a one-week and 24 hours’ notice prior to the work taking place. 
Work Schedule and Traffic: Work will be performed during the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. It is anticipated that roadways will remain open to vehicular traffic; however, on street parking may be temporarily restricted during these times.  Travel lanes will be managed utilizing appropriate signage, flag personnel, and police officers.  Access for residents, deliveries, buses, refuse and recycling, and emergency vehicles will still be provided.
Important Information for Affected Properties: During this period your property’s sewer service connection will be sealed off from the City’s sanitary sewer main in the street. Therefore, it is advised that the resident/business owner:

• limit the use of water going down the drains to a minimum;
• do not use washing machines or dishwashers;
• leave the water in the tub until you service has been restored, if you must take a shower; and
• any sump pumps incorrectly connected to the sewer system must be disconnected or discharged elsewhere.

If you detect an odor: The odor can be minimized by pouring several gallons of water down the sinks, showers, toilets and by opening your window.

Dear Owner or Resident:

The Department of Public Works (DPW), has awarded National Water Main Cleaning Company a contract for the above captioned work.

Work is anticipated to commence on or about Monday, May 11, 2026 and shall be performed between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm with streets remaining open to vehicular traffic; however on street parking may be temporarily restricted during these times. Travel lanes will be managed utilizing appropriate signage, flag personnel, and police officers. Access for residents, deliveries, buses, refuse & recycling, and emergency vehicles will still be provided.

City of White Plains personnel will be on-site to ensure the satisfactory performance of the work.
